The term "prefab" has many meanings in the home building industry. Many home builders use prefab walls and sections of homes during their conventional home construction. Prefab frames are constructed for pillars, posts and planters as well.
A true prefab home is built in a factory in sections and delivered to the job site where it is assembled into a finished home. You can pick from a variety of home styles, floor plans, elevations, color schemes and amenities. Generally you can customize accessories, electrical outlets, flooring, countertops, cabinets and so much more that you end up with a "custom, prefab home". If you want to build away from a housing development but want to avoid the design and architect expenses, a prefab home may be just what you are looking for.
